(Kind of) New House

Well, the other day Jason said something to me to the effect of 'you know it was this time last year that we first saw this house.' It was at that point that I decided it might be time to post a blog about our 'new' house. I meant to do that when we moved in, but what can I say? Sorry. However, instead of boring you with pictures of the house and rooms and such, I figured I would do something different. I mean most people who read this blog have seen the house, so here are some other things about our new house that you might enjoy.

One of my favorite things about this house is having a back yard. Our last house had practically no yard, so I am so glad to have a pretty back yard where we can go outside and sit or Bella can play. At least for the 2 seconds it has been nice weather since we moved in. =)

A nice surprise last spring was when that first nice weather came through and the vines over our fence bloomed in to these gorgeous coral flowers.

The first thing I did to the back yard was plant stuff. I was determined to grow my own herbs and vegetables for the summer so I planted all kinds of herbs, tomato plants, bell peppers, jalapenos. Here are a few shots of my plants.

I can't bear to show you pictures of what they look like now after the brutal summer we had. I watered them every day and did everything I could to keep them alive, but by the end of July they had just burned up. I did however grow enough jalapenos to make these babies. And they were YUMMY.

Here is a full shot of our lovely yard. We spent a lot of time in the water toys as you can see. Did I mention this summer was the hottest on record? Ever?

In the spring we also had some crazy storms. Three different times we had huge branches like this fall off our tree in our back yard. Not sure if that guy is going to make it much longer.

Another thing we have close to us is a couple of splash parks. This is new to me, but a great thing that the city of Dallas does. It is just a public park!

One of the best things about our new house is our neighborhood. I knew just about everyone around us before we even moved in totally. They are so friendly and some people even brought food over! We have also been blessed with the best neighbors ever. They have a 3 year old daughter name Kate and she and Bella are now BFF. Not to mention that they are super cool and we hang out a lot. Here is Bella, Kate and Liz one night that we went to see a Movie Under the Stars thing this summer.

There is also a Braum's not too far away so we have walked down there to get ice cream together.

Bella and Kate at the Arboretum with her dad Pete.

And this is my absolute favorite picture of them playing dress up next door.

So, yeah, you could say we are happy with our kind of new house. I honestly feel like this is where God meant for us to be, and I imagine we will be here for a very long time.
