Jason's 30th Birthday

Jason's birthday was on Super Bowl Sunday this year. We wanted to have a party but knew no one was coming if we had it then, so we ended up doing all his birthday stuff this past weekend. Since it was his 30th I wanted to do something really cool and special for it and so I asked him months in advance if I could just have one Saturday of his to plan some fun stuff for him. So I had been planning for a while and after going through many ideas, I had last Saturday planned out. I didn't tell him anything we were doing so he was all excited and looking forward to it.

If you know Jason at all you know he is in to cars. Mostly fast, expensive cars. My initial idea was to rent him some sort of awesome car for the day while we went and did fun stuff. But looking around I couldn't really find what I was looking for, not to mention it was CRAZY expensive to do so. In the process of looking for a car to rent, though, I found this thing called Drive Your Dream by DFW Elite Auto. Basically you sign up to drive like 5 different cars over the course of a few hours out on back roads around Ft. Worth. It sounded like the perfect thing for Jason, so I signed him up. For a little extra I got to ride as his passenger and that way he could drive the whole time and not have to switch with another person. I wasn't sure how much fun I would have, but it turned out to be really fun! Basically we started in Ft. Worth and went on a 170 mile loop down to Burleson, over to Granbury, back up to Weatherford and then back to Ft. Worth. He got to drive a Ferrari F430, Porsche 911 Carrera, Audi R8, Lamborghini Guillardo and a Dodge Viper. If you want a play by play, Jason has put together our video that I took if you want to watch it for more detail. Especially enjoy the part where we get pulled over in the Lamborghini. =)

So Jason pretty much loved it and I think I got major brownie points for that one. Next up we went to eat at this place in Deep Elum called Cowboy Chow. I had read about it in D Magazine and it sounded right up his alley so we tried it out. I thought it was all delicious and it is kind of kitschy and cool. I highly recommend the sweet watermelon tea.

After lunch we headed to the Crescent to get massages. I got a pregnancy massage which was AWESOME. I think I didn't realize how tired my muscles were from carrying around all this extra weight all the time, but it was SO nice. Jason got a massage too and then we headed home to get ready for dinner.

Jason had been wanting to try Jasper's for a while, so I made us a reservation for dinner and it was delicious! We had a lot of food. We started with these blue cheese potato chips, which were super tasty, but very rich. Then we had a salad and then I had almond crusted trout and Jason had a bone in filet. Both were very good as well as were the sides - corn in a jalapeno cream sauce and a mac n cheese with ham in it. For dessert we had a sort of banana mousse pudding. YUMMY! It was all very tasty. I would highly recommend it. After that we basically went home and passed out.

Sunday we had all of Jason's closest friends over for a bbq. We ordered ribs from the Salt Lick in Driftwood and then had brisket and sides and then a cookie cake, which I have been meaning to get him for his birthday for about three years and keep forgetting. Sorry honey! It was really good to see everyone, and the weather was great so we even got to sit outside on the patio some. We also had three different babies at our party! I guess we are just getting to that age huh? Soon we will have one more to add to the crew!

So all in all it was a busy but fun weekend. I hope Jason had a great time for his 30th birthday! I love you honey. =)
